  • 1. Why – I drove too fast because I was late for work.

  • 5. Why – Because I forgot to replace them.

Succession Planning

Create detailed development programs for all levels to grow. This is a must do for all companies.

Cost per Hire / Turnover %

Know your cost per hire and your turnover %.

  • ACCEPTABLE – If you have 200 employees and 5 people quit, the turnover rate is 2.5%. 
  • UNACCEPTABLE – If you have 200 employees and 8 people quit, your turnover is 4%. This situation needs a further deep dive. 
    • For those 8 people, calculate the cost per hire.  If your cost per hire/turnover is $2,000 per person, this is a controllable cost of $16,000/mo and $192,000/yr. 

Predictive Hiring

Create a tracking mechanism to display the hiring data of previous years for each department. This will help you remain proactive in anticipated turnover.

80% vs 20%

Take the approach of THINKING vs DOING.  Create processes for your team to spend 80% of the time DOING. Dedicate 20% of the time to THINKING.  Break down to its simplest form; as less is best.

Performance Reviews

Create an effective evaluation for work performance that aligns with the key performance indicators (KPI) of the position and/or company.  No employee should ever be surprised by their evaluation!

    How’s It Going Surveys – Create a survey to ‘take the temperature’ of your current staff. Your staff wants to know they matter. Ask, listen, respond.

    Exit Surveys – Create a survey to find out WHY they are leaving. Use the information to help create a Just Culture.
